I wonder what is coming next. All is relatively quiet on the 'western front', which means, for sure, that we need to be spiritually alert. We've all got used to the Ukraine/Russia war, the US spatting with Iran, an on-off confrontation (as ever) in the Middle East.
We know that alongside oncoming crises there will be a blanket of media messages about 'unity' and tolerance. Religions are cosying up to religions, have you noticed? Where 'religion' has been the crux of many historical and more recent conflicts, the 'good' in all faiths is being increasingly emphasised and Christian churches are under pressure not to rock the boat and go along with an overarching "God loves all the little children" message.
Listen. God is love, for sure. But God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all, (1 John 1:5). He is the gentlest and most powerful God; He can cradle a newborn and a broken heart but He is also the fierce Lion of Judah with fire in His eyes. This fire is the passion of His love - a love so pure and committed that I think we barely understand it. He is mercy itself - mercy that sent His Son to the disgusting torture of a crucifixion death.
The Gospel is the Gospel and there isn't, and never will be, a Gospel-Lite for either the squeamish or the half-hearted. The Holy Spirit is impressing His love upon our spirit-man in these days with a passion for those who do not know Christ - a passion that will declare the truth. A passion that will risk mockery and more to give that life standing in front of us the news that Someone declared His love for them on a Cross.
Equally, God is moving on those of us who know Him very intentionally; He is our first Love, right? We need to be listening, walking closely with Him, focusing on His movement and direction for our lives.
What's the point in trying to build anything that He is not building? What is the point? Why start building anything that is not for His glory and for His eternal purpose?
Where do you work? Do you know why? Where do you live? Why? Are you well planted in your church family? Are you drifting? Are you bored? Is Jesus Himself your pursuit in your Christian walk? I've been, as has my wife, Stella, asking myself some genuine and honest questions such as these.
My amazing mum will soon be 90 years old. Ridiculous really. She doesn't look it and is such a livewire for the Lord she could be 25 years younger! She will go on loving God and touching lives for God as long as her Jesus has purpose in it; the same for you and me. It's nothing to do, really, with our earth 'age.' God gives us every breath we have and if we are still breathing this earth's air then we have purpose and we would do well to yield to it.
We see the flavour of the world. We are not part of that. We are born from above, born into Christ's Kingdom. We have an alternative heritage and identity. What an adventure! What a privilege! The Pied Piper is calling the world to its tune of 'one voice' and 'one vision' but we know our Bible and know where this is heading. We, on the other hand, are part of God's eternal Home and this is well needed prep for all that awaits us!
July 2026
So here we are, kicking off our blog. What is God saying? How can we encourage you?
We have to test everything by His Word; Jesus is the Word, and true words from Heaven's courts will never contradict the written word we have.
More than ever, we need to keep our eyes and focus on Jesus; there is so much noise out there, the media, Youtube, prophetic warnings about so many arenas of life; some seem right and others fail or are inconsistent. Well, God is not the author of confusion so push away any so called revelation that does not sit in peace in your spirit.
These are days to walk closely with our Lord and to keep things simple; distractions and secondary alleys will beckon to us; at least, they will take up valuable time and focus and at worst, we can start to build or engage in activities that are destined to be truncated. Remember that Jesus only ever got involved with what He saw the Father doing. There was no point in exerting Himself with 'stuff'.
There's a lot of impressive stuff - including church stuff - but the anointing will rest on what God is doing. I don't believe we can burn out if we are about His business, because His yoke is easy and His burden is light. The yoke from the Lord is a healthy, comfortable fit. I'm not saying it means a plain-sailing path - not at all - but we can work from rest with his mantle.
There is no doubt in my mind that dark forces are orchestrating and planning disasters, chaos and crises in the days ahead. We can remain in peace - God is still on the move, on the march, building His Kingdom and we can continue to be a part of what He is doing. Satan loves to draw attention to himself and away from Jesus. Well, we're not having that. We will continue to magnify Jesus Christ whatever is happening at governmental level, nationally and worldwide.
Be encouraged. Stay close to Jesus - listen for Him. He delights in speaking with us. He doesn't need or orchestrate noise. He has far too much power, love and authority to need any of that. Crises are on the way and are media messages about the one world focus of humankind in these days, trying to enforce a fake 'unity' and society code. True togetherness is only in Jesus, in being born again into the Kingdom of Light.
Bless you - get in touch as you wish!
